Folded glass
2007/05/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
Glass-like materials can be manufactured with an ultraviolet metal foil. They are hard and resistant materials, but if they twist or bend they break easily. Traditional metals are much more flexible, because their atoms are arranged in small crystals, and if they bend all crystals have the possibility to move each other. However, there are no such structures in glazed metals. Thanks to this they are resistant but cannot be folded. Some Chinese physicists have solved it. A four-metal alloy has been made, with compact, hard and other low-density parts that allow folding.
