The garbage dumps of the Dutch city of Emmen will now have new members who will be a more laborious part of garbage collection. The mechanical arms installed in garbage trucks will collect the garbage buckets from the sidewalk and pour its contents into the truck, faster and quieter than the men did so far. In these municipalities there is usually a small number of garbage collectors, so workers must perform truck and garbage collection work.
However, from now on, workers will only have to place the truck in front of the trash can and turn on the robot, the rest will be done by the robot. To do this, in the mechanical arm there is a camera placed so that the driver knows where to stop. Once located in the appropriate place, the robot reads a magnetic sticker in the trash can so that it knows what kind of trash is inside. This also aims to facilitate the collection of waste for recycling.
