Expert systems are, as the name suggests, computer applications that simulate the behavior of an expert. These systems are mainly based on a large set of knowledge formed by inference rules. An inference engine is used to draw conclusions from these knowledge sets.

There are already tools in the market to support the development of these expert systems and one of them is the Nexus launched by Mind Soft, creator of expert systems. This has established the relationship between traditional computing and artificial intelligence. It can therefore treat the knowledge expressed by both rules and orders. This feature makes it a creator well suited to user needs.

Creator of expert systems, currently works on IBM PC and supports a memory of 640Kb and two diskettes and Macintosh Plus.
