Road to Martitz

1987/08/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Martitz, the planet symbol of war, can become a collaborative tool between the US and the USSR. In April, US and USSR representatives signed a collaboration agreement for the exploration of Martitz. According to the signed agreement, the US will know the information that the satellite that the Soviet Union must send to Fobos, the satellite of Mars. European countries are already working with the Soviets on this project.

Americans and Soviets, for their part, have had plans for a long time. The Soviets, in addition to the probe they should send to Fobos next year, have the firm intention of sending two automatic probes to Mars in the next decade. Moreover, if the rumors are heeded, it would not be strange that before the end of the century some Soviet cosmonaut stepped on the ground of Martitz.

In the project described in the attached diagram, the Soviets would issue a stationary sampler they would mark with their launchers and fuel. The PLATFORM, for its part, would launch an automatic vehicle around the Soviet sampler. The US vehicle would collect samples and transfer them to the Soviet sampler. When the latter is completely full, he would leave Martitz and return to Earth. The collected samples would be first analyzed in the space laboratory and later in the Landfills.

On the other hand, compasses intend to place a traveling robot on the surface of Mars at the end of the century. This robot would collect samples from different places transferring them to an orbiter who would then wait. The latter would return the samples to Earth.

The collaboration between the two superpowers can extend from the Fobos project to other projects for Mars. Among the programs proposed for collaboration is one of them.
