If the islands are grouped together, they are located in the Cornati archipelago, on the coast of Croatia. About 150 islands in 320 square kilometers. It is the island with the highest density of the Adriatic Sea. However, according to the legends of the inhabitants of the area, the islands are much more than 150, as the days of the year.
The smallest island has about 4 square meters. The largest, Kornat, with 32.5 square kilometers, has named the archipelago.
Kornati is a dry, climatological area yes, but especially for the geology of the island. Predominates the limestone formed in the cretaceous, which has formed a huge karst, so all the precipitation is filtered to the subsoil. There are no fountains, rivers or lakes. However, it is estimated that there are Kornati 700-800 plant species.
The spectacular sea cliffs on several islands are the result of the collision of the African plate with the European plate.
XX. In the early 20th century, grazing and agriculture had enough strength. Currently, however, in most islands there is no one alive, and about three-quarters of the island are protected within the Cornati National Park.
