Analyzing the anatomical characteristics of 52 species of chameleons, scientists at the Natural History Museum have discovered that these animals have the ability to swim. Thus, it can be explained that chameleons have the possibility of crossing stretch marks. The American group has published a theory on the global dispersion of chameleons. According to this theory, 26 million years ago they appeared on a large continent called Gondwana.
Gondwana was divided into two to create Africa and another territory, and when that other territory was divided India, Madagascar and Seychelles were founded. According to scientists, chameleons left the island of Madagascar today at different times of migration and have gradually spread to Africa, India and Europe.
