The differences between professional chess players and beginners are greater than expected, since both do not use the same area of the brain.

The chess master, to start playing, sets in motion a long-lasting memory den in the brain. The beginner, on the other hand, prepares the strategy in areas that control short-term memory.

To find it, German scientists analyze 20 players when they played against the computer in chess. All these players had more than 10 years of experience. In general, people with the ability to use long-term memory know the keys to use in each specific situation.
