Policies have been called for to limit ultra-processed foods

43 international experts have published a series of articles on ultra-processed food in the Lancet magazine. These are three articles, the first on the health impact of ultra-processed products, the second on regulatory and limiting policies for these products and the last on market power.

The first article denounces that ultra-processed foods are becoming a public health problem. To reach this conclusion, global data has been analysed. Among the authors are researchers from the University of Navarra, the IdiSNA research institute and the CIBEROBN group, who say that ultra-processed food is replacing fresh and under-processed food. As a result, the quality of the diet is declining, while the risk of various chronic diseases is increasing.
