State of the beaches

The official summer is over and although you can still go to the beach, in the sun, the official bathing season has ended on the Basque beaches.

This summer there have been many scandals about cleaning the beaches. On the one hand, several Basque beaches have been endowed by the EVE with the blue flag of purity. On the other hand, we have had the invasion of jellyfish and, at least in Donostia, more dirt in the water than in other years.

According to a report published by the EVE on the state of beaches, fewer beaches in Belgium, Denmark, Spain and the Netherlands met EEC standards in 1988 than in 1987.
