Today begins the era of quantum computing in San Sebastian
As of today, October 14, San Sebastian will be one of the few cities in the world with a quantum computer.
In fact, it has just inaugurated the most powerful quantum computer in the IBM network. Those responsible say that it is unpredictable what it will bring, but they hope it will be revolutionary.
IBM Quantum System Two is integrated into IBM’s worldwide network of the most advanced quantum computers. The other two computers in this network are located in the United States and Japan.
This system, managed directly by IBM, is powered by the IBM Quantum Heron processor, the most powerful that has been developed to date. This allows it to simulate circuits up to 5,000 operations of two quantum bits.
Due to its modular design, it will be able to integrate several processors in the future, which is a great qualitative step forward in terms of capacity and performance in European quantum computing.
Among other things, they hope to be useful in bringing advances in areas such as personalized medicine, computer security, the development of new materials, and the study of complex economic, industrial, and environmental problems.
