AFrancis Crick died on July 28 in San Diego, United States, at age 88. DNA received in 1962, along with Watson and Wilkins, the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine to discover that it had a double helix shape.

However, the prize did not reach them immediately. In fact, the study of the structure of DNA was a work of years, but the discovery did not have much repercussion. Watson and Crick proposed on February 28, 1953 the double-helix model, which was published in the April 25 issue of the journal Nature. Therefore, years have passed to receive the deserved acceptance.

However, it is not Crick's only contribution in molecular biology. For example, he studied the structure of proteins under the direction of Max Perutz and proposed the relationship between DNA and proteins. Thus, in 1957, Crick announced the "Nagusia Dogma" at the symposium of the Association of Experimental Biology. With this he explained that the DNA passes the information to the RNA and that based on it the proteins are produced.

In 1958 he published a method to study the structure of proteins, which has predominated for many years. In 1966 he discovered that three genetic code bases corresponded to a protein amino acid. This work was fully published and many believe it is Crick's most elegant work.

He continued to work in molecular biology until 1977. Then he went to the Salk Institute to investigate in neurobiology. He studied mainly his dreams, his conscience and his vision, and since 1984 he has worked with Christof Koch. Known for his research in DNA and protein, his contributions to neurobiology have not been modest either.
