Superslide fluid

2004/02/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

Physicists have identified another state of matter: superslide. In the study with solid Helio-4, superfluous behavior at temperatures below 175 milicelvin has been achieved.

Superfluids can be obtained when the temperature is close to absolute zero, when atoms have less energy. Then the fluid moves smoothly. The superflux had so far been seen in gases and liquids, but it is the first time that this situation has been seen with a solid.
