Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka will bring together 700 young people to showcase the 200 STEAM projects conducted during the course on the Arenal bilbaíno

Today the Elhuyar Science Fair 2023 has been presented in a press appearance held in the classroom of experiences of the UPV in Bilbao. Elhuyar, as the organizer of the initiative, has offered details about the fair by its sponsors and two students. Along with the organizers and sponsors, two students from the Somorface Education Center, Alaia Sainz García and Igarki Uribe Escribano, have also participated, who have made known the elaboration of the projects and the experiences lived along the way. The testimony of these award-winning young people last year has shown the importance of such projects in teaching and teaching.
The Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka will last for 3 days, from 2 to 4 June, and will take place in the Arenal de Bilbao. The photography will involve representatives of the actors of the Basque science and technology network who support and support the initiative, together with the Elhuyar organization. From the start of the fair, the research projects and technological projects developed by the young people during the course will be the protagonists.
During the three days of the fair, young people between the ages of 12 and 18 will show over 200 STEAM projects realized during the course. On Friday, June 2, 105 projects of 3rd and 4th students of Baccalaureate and ESO will be presented; on Saturday, June 3, 54 of 3rd and 4th ESO; and on Sunday, June 4, 48 projects of 1st and 2nd ESO. In total, 700 young people will participate in the three days of this year’s fair. Besides the young people of the educational centers of the Basque Country, we will have the awards of the national and international fairs: A team from Italy, Catalonia and five from Galicia.
During these three days we will count on the presence of researchers in El Arenal, evaluating youth projects, and with all the data, the awards will be presented on the same Sunday, June 4, noon, at 13:30 hours, in the event of awards ceremony, with the presence of authorities and representatives of institutions such as Erabi, Kutxa Foundation, UPV/EHU, Eurorregión, Bizkaia. The prizes to the winners are stays in research companies, research scholarships and trips to national and international fairs. The presenters will be the young Arnaitz Fernández Elias and Elene Barrutia Loroño.
In addition to young students, research centres and universities in the Basque Country participate in Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka. In addition, the commitment they show annually regarding the project, which began with the registration of 244 researchers (including 138 women) from universities and technology centers to work with students and perform evaluator tasks of the final phase.

The aim of Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka is to encourage young people to become more fond of science and to promote and disseminate scientific culture, not only at this fair in Arenal, but also throughout the year. This year 1,450 young people (52% girls, 45% boys and 3% non-binary) and 79 schools participated.
From the first edition of 2013 to the present, 7,400 young people between 12 and 18 years have participated in the Elhuyar Science Fair. In total, 2,200 research projects or technological projects have been carried out, of which about 970 have been presented at the Elhuyar Science Fair organized in Bilbao.
The Elhuyar Zientzia Azoka initiative, organised by Elhuyar, is supported by the Department of Education of the Basque Government, the Euroregion, the FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology), the Kutxa Foundation, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Bilbao City Hall and the Government of Navarra.
