In revegetated forests, as high biodiversity as in intact forests

Forests repopulated after logging can be of the same biodiversity as those not affected, according to a study. The team of environmentalist Robin Chazdon of the University of Connecticut investigated in the rainforests of Costa Rica. The study showed that 90% of intact forest tree species could be found in revegetated forests. However, scientists claim that elsewhere in the world the outcome may be different, as conditions will be different. Climate change is also a major risk for tropical species.
