Photo of the week: the crows remember

Heretofore, it has been thought that crows chased wolves to eat animals slaughtered by them. But no, when the wolves arrive at the place where they are going to kill the animals, the crows are there waiting.

They remember very well the places where wolves kill animals, and the crows go directly there from a distance, even on flight trips of six hours, many times.

A study published in the journal Science found that they have excellent spatial memory. In the Yellowstone National Park of the United States, which has been followed by crows and wolves for two and a half years, it has been found that it is a very profitable investment for crows to identify hunting places for wolves.

They don't only know the hunting grounds of a single wolf group. With their delicate senses and memories, they have the knowledge of many groups.

To do this, they have had to mark the ravens with a GPS, which has been the most difficult, since the ravens were such demanding observers that they could identify the traps very easily.
