Fotocam 2010, and the ants of Máté

Hungarian photographer Bence Máté spent hours photographing ants in a tropical rainforest in Costa Rica. But he got one of the most beautiful photos without having to enter the forest: a caravan of ants carrying colorful leaves and petals that he found in the garden of his house, passing by a well.

Máté is winning a lot of prizes. We met him in the flash of the December magazine with another spectacular photo of the ants. With him he won the Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2010 award, and with this “The caravan” he has now won the Fotocam 2010 competition.

Two other photographers who received the award in this competition were Urtzi Vera from Orozco and José Manuel Grandío from Irún. Vera has been a winner in the category of vegetation with her photo of the cukuprakas in the Gorbeia Natural Park. And, for his part, Grandío has won the award in the landscape category with the River Bruar in Iceland.
