Castors in Arga

Although many think otherwise, the native mammal of the Basque Country is the European beaver. It disappeared in the 17th century due to hunting, but in 2003 a Belgian group, trying to recover this great rodent, illegally introduced it into the Aragon River in Navarre. Since then we have them on our shores.
