The Karey Turtle
The Karei turtle lives in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea and returns to the coast only to lay eggs. It feeds on sponges that are placed in the coral barrier.
Corals are living creatures that depend on the temperature of their environment. they need a temperature between 22 and 28 degrees to develop. That’s why rising water temperatures have already wiped out a fifth of the world’s corals. In fact, hot water has led to the loss of microscopic algae, leading to the discoloration of corals. If this bleaching continued or intensified, the coral’s ability to grow and reproduce would gradually diminish, along with the sponges that the karei turtle so much needs.
