Fat Depleting Bacteria; First Tests with Intelligent Road Convoys; Replacement for Retreat; Denisovan, New Hominid
Denisovano, the new hominidA research
group at the Max Planck Institute, led by Svante Pääbo, has reported a new hominid called denisovano because it was based on the remains of a cave in Denisov, Siberia. This DNA fingerprint has been extracted from the bone of a 6-7 year old girl who lived 300,000 years ago. In comparison with the genome of the other hominids, it has been observed that these hominids belonged to the same trunk as the Neanderthals and crossed with the ancestors of the Melanesians of New Guinea.
Bacteria that Reduce the Fat Layer
Some Irish researchers have grown a strain of lactobacillus that significantly changes the composition of the fat layer. The study was done with rats. They have genetically engineered the strain of the bacteria that produces the molecule called CLA, and fed the rats with it. This CLA molecule has caused changes in the fat layer and has also been found to inhibit colon cancer-causing cells. As a result, according to the researchers, the incorporation of this type of bacteria in probiotic foods could influence the metabolic activity of different parts of the body.
The experts in Sociology of Old Age at the Universitat
Jaume I have proposed an alternative to the traditional scheme of working life: the possibility of several temporary retirement periods instead of retirement. To develop this proposal, a study was carried out with twenty experts and twenty other men and women. They say that with this new scheme, gender, age and social injustices would be avoided.
First tests with intelligent road convoys The
first tests with intelligent car convoys have turned out well. As part of the European project SARTRE, Volvo has launched a convoy consisting of a truck and a car. The car was connected to the truck, which took over the driving of the car. The next step will be to get a convoy of five vehicles. The purpose of these convoys is to improve safety and reduce consumption, as well as to give the driver a break.
