Expansion of Young Galaxies; Congress on Encapsulated Software; New Center for Bioengineering; ON CIENCIA video contest
Some galaxies collide and form larger systems. But there is also another, less violent, form of expansion: the young galaxies absorb quantities of helium and cold hydrogen gas, which served as the material for the formation of gases that traversed the primitive universe and new stars. This phenomenon has been discovered by a team of astronomical researchers at the Max Planck Institute, based on observations with the Chilean VLT telescope.
The 9th edition of the QA & TEST International Conference on Quality and Testing of Embedded Systems Software, Systems Software That Have No Access Once Installed, will take place from 27 to 29 October at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao.
BEGOÑA LAIBARRA, SQS: Televisions, telephones, cars, airplanes, washing machines... encapsulated software is everywhere. Around 200
international experts will discuss the importance of testing and validating the quality of encapsulated software. The need to train professionals will also be addressed in these sessions.
Ceit-IK4, together with the University of Navarra, will launch a new bioengineering centre to achieve improvements in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. The centre, which will open in 2011, will have laboratories in San Sebastian and Pamplona. Five main lines of research will include five: tissue engineering for cell therapy, smart implants, virology, imaging, and bioinformatics.
50 videos have been presented to ON CIENCIA, the video contest for the dissemination of science and technology organized by the Elhuyar Foundation and the Donostia International Physics Center. To know the winning videos, you will have to wait until the award ceremony on November 9, but the candidate videos can already be seen, voted and commented on on the contest website: www.onzientzia.tv
