Dinosaurs, descendants of four-legged reptilians Paleontologists at
the University of Texas have concluded that dinosaurs are descendants of four-legged reptilians. This would change the assumptions about the origin of the dinosaurs, as most paleontologists believed that dinosaur pioneers were two-legged carnivores. According to some recently discovered fossils, it seems that a species that looks a lot like dinosaurs and lived 25 million years ago, walked on four legs and mainly ate grass due to the shape of its teeth.

Basques and Europeans, according to a study
led genetically by the CIC bioGUNE, Basque citizens, from both the Southern and Northern Basque Country, form a genetically homogeneous group, different from the rest of Europe. This research has been reported in the journal Human Genetics. This study shows that Europe is divided into groups, one of which is made up of Basque citizens. This is the first large-scale study to collect individual genetic data from Basque citizens living in the South and the North.

Statistics for short-term rainfall forecasting The physicist Alejandro Fernández has tested an innovative statistical model for rainfall forecasting between
3 and 24 hours in the sanitation network of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium. The model is based on a technique called downscaling or scale reduction. The researcher has combined several methods that serve to make predictions around the world or in Europe, reducing their scale and then adapting them to suit Bilbao. The result is as reliable as some sophisticated models that use terrestrial radars and satellites, the physicist has verified through tests.

ON SCIENCE video competition The

ON SCIENCE video competition is underway. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Donostia International Physics Center, the Elhuyar Foundation and DIPC have organized an amateur video contest for the dissemination of science and technology. The subject is completely free, and the videos must have a maximum duration of 5 minutes. The first three winners will win €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000 respectively. To register for the contest, watch other videos or get more information about the contest, the website is www.onzientzia.tv
