Evacuate to regenerate

The highest dam so far excluded from service in Europe is located on the Artikutzan estate in San Sebastián. A large group of researchers (UPV/EHU-Universitat Barcelona) has studied the impact of the emptying of the reservoir on biodiversity and the eco-systems of the streams. The Deembalse Project (FBBCA) has found that environments can be restored faster than expected if the origin of the colonizers is nearby.
