The impact of biodiversity on the pandemic

The SARS-COV-2 virus and the studies launched to combat it have brought the concept of biodiversity to the forefront. There are a growing number of researchers who believe that there has been an increase in contagious pathogens as a result of the damage and disasters that humans have caused to biodiversity. According to the latest data, one million species are on the verge of extinction and there is a loss of habitats at the base. We spoke with Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque researcher at the BC3 Climate Change Center, about the impact and importance of biodiversity in this situation of pandemic and health crisis that we are experiencing and the measures that should be taken to combat all this.
