Sometimes, for no obvious reason, a person’s heart stops pumping blood. The cause of 80% of these cases is ventricular fibrillation, which has only one treatment: passing an electric shock through the heart, defibrillation. Automatic defibrillators have been installed in many places so that they can be made by anyone, and many of these machines are the result of a collaboration between engineers from the UPV/EHU and Cardio from Completo-Bexen.
