Satellite broadband servicesThe European Space
Agency has launched the first satellite to provide a high-speed Internet connection. The satellite, called Hylas-1, uses progressive communication technology and will bring broadband services to hundreds of thousands of homes and companies in Europe. The satellite will support the broadcasting and distribution of television signals, news reception and telephony, among others.
Wind Power Project Eleven wind power companies and 22 research centers will participate in the Azimut project to develop a large marine wind
turbine. Gamesa leads the project. it is expected to be completed by 2013 and the goal is that each unit will have a capacity of 15 MW.
The National Center for
Technology and Food Safety of San Adrián has just presented the characteristics of the SIGSAL project. The aim of this project is to develop a technological platform that brings together all the agents of the agri-food chain - i.e. suppliers, customers, technology centres, etc. - to manage food safety from conception to the table and in real time.
Another advantage of this platform today is being able to automate and improve processes and controls related to the quality and safety of food products that are generally handmade.
One of Saturn's moons,
Rea, contains oxygen and carbon dioxide in its atmosphere, according to data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. Researchers at the Research Institute in Southwest Texas report that the atmosphere around Rea is created by the irradiation of Saturn’s magnosphere due to the chemical decomposition of ice water on the lunar surface.
