First fossil of a chimpanzee

2005/10/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

For the first time they find the fossil of a chimpanzee. Specifically, three teeth of 500,000 years ago
have been fossilized near Lake Baringo in Kenya. But the human being has lived for thousands of years in the savannah, where the conditions are very suitable to fossilize the bones. On the contrary, chimpanzees live in a hot humid forest where no fossils remain. Therefore, researchers have been satisfied with the news, as fossils allow them to investigate the evolution of chimpanzees.
