The SRY gene is found on chromosome Y and has been exclusively related to sex. Its main function is to give the signal that the fetus is a child, but it also has a relationship with diseases like Parkinson.

Recently, the SRY gene was also expressed in brain cells, including the substantia nigra. Well, research has been carried out in this area and they have found that the SRY gene controls the secretion of the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase. This enzyme synthesizes dopamine neurotransmitter, one of the neurotransmitters related to many diseases of the motor system.
