Exposure of the inner magnetic field

So far it has not been possible to check the way magnetic fields adopt within a solid. All the techniques used were limited to the surface of the solid. Now, using neutron beams, German physicists have developed a method at the Hahn-Meiner Institute in Berlin that allows exploring the interior of the solid. Neutrons are suitable for this technique by their ability to penetrate solids and by their magnetic spin --and therefore interact with the magnetic field within solids. The new technique will allow, for example, to visualize the magnetic field inside a superconductor.
