Photo contest winner Shell Wildlife
2006/12/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
A walrus looking for food at the bottom of the sea. This can describe the winning image of the Shell Wildlife award.
The photographer, the British Goran Ehlme, was about to reject and delete the photo when he saw it on the digital camera. He was submerged and, of course, did not see the small screen of the camera with his glasses well. At that time it seemed to him that only a cloud of dust was visible and almost wiped it. But when he had his finger on the button he realized that there was something else in the image: the head of the walrus.
He saved the photo and won the prize. Organized by the magazine Wildlife of the BBC and the Natural History Museum of London, this year more than 18,000 photographs have participated.
