Japanese proton accelerator is almost ready
01/03/2009 | Elhuyar
J-PARC, the Japanese Proton Accelerator Research Center, is almost ready to start working. They have already managed to accelerate the proton rays from 30 GeV to 50 GeV. The protons were sent to the Experimental Hadron Plant (ILP), where they will collide to form subatomic particles such as muons, neutrinos and caones. In fact, they expect the 50 GeV synchrotron to send its first neutrino rays to the SuperTrucks detector, at a distance of 295 km.
