Asturian scientist Ángel Rubio Secades received the XVI. DuPont Award. He is a professor of Materials Physics at the Faculty of Chemistry at the UPV and a researcher at the CSIC-EHU Center.

Ángel Rubio has highlighted for his outstanding theoretical contributions in the field of nanotubes. In fact, he has made basic predictions about its mechanical, electronic, optical and magnetic properties. It has also laid the groundwork for possible applications of these materials as components of materials with high wear or in the field of molecular electronics.
