Much less for the telescope that has just turned 102. But ahead of the years, in September 1996 the oldest telescope in Britain will be useful again. For this to happen, astronomers at the Royal Observatory and technicians at the National Sea Museum are working intensively.

The 102-year-old telescope that can be seen in the image above has witnessed most of the findings made in Britain.

Since its construction in Dublin, the telescope has faced countless accidents. The most damaging are the storm and storm that hit Britain violently in 1987 and 1989. These accidents affected the telescope dome and the rotation mechanism.

Due to these errors, in recent years the old telescope has hardly been used. It was not so at the beginning of the century, since the optical tool you can see in the image above is the witness of almost all the discoveries made in Britain.
