A group of American universities Boston and Duke has created a surface capable of absorbing almost all wavelengths between infrared waves and microwaves. This surface has been made with metamaterials that have shaped the letter C, placing the pieces two by two. It has been calculated that it will be able to absorb 99% of the waves in the aforementioned range of wavelengths. Still, they have achieved only 96% efficiency in experiments.
