Anthropocene, human epic
2008/03/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
We live in the Holocene. Geologists thus call the time of approximately 11,500 years ago, in which the Earth has suffered a concrete geological situation: a topology and a climatology. The beginning of the Holocene is well defined, the end of the last glaciation and, according to the traditional definition, has not yet concluded. However, according to some groups of geologists, it ended 200 years ago. They consider that since that time, Earth's topography and climatology have changed considerably as a result of human activity. That is why they have proposed to define a new geological epic, which aims to call Anthropozene the period of the last 200 years.
