2048: last fishing breath

After half a century, by 2048, in particular, we will run out of sea food if we continue to treat our seas as before. This is what research at Dalhouse University in Nova Scotia says.
Data from captures from around the world of 50 years have been used for these calculations. According to them, they have concluded that in the last 200 years coastal biodiversity has decreased dramatically, worsening water quality and increasing blooms of harmful algae, coastal flooding and fish diseases. Data analysis reveals that 29% of the marine resources exploited in 1950 were already collapsed by 2003. However, the research also shows the success of current conservation efforts in some regions.
To reverse this downward trend, researchers say, in addition to adequate fisheries management and conservation plans, habitat restoration, pollution reduction and climate change mitigation can be key.
