The incredible colors of Yellowstone

In the northwest of the United States, Yellowstone is a caldera or valley paralyzed by a giant volcano. That was about 642,000 years ago. And 138 years ago, in 1872, it became the first national park in the world.

It has almost 9,000 km2, inhabited by brown bears, black bears, bison, uapiti deer, elk, etc. But, the most impressive and famous thing about Yellowstone are its geothermal phenomena.

it has about 200 geysers and 10,000 thermal springs, 60% of which are known in the world. In fact, the hot spot below Yellowstone is still active. In the last 50 years it has risen about 70 cm above sea level.

From the geysers, jets of several meters are periodically extracted, whistling. And the minerals that precipitate in the springs form strange structures. In many springs you can see colors that are hard to believe: red, green, yellow... They are the pigments of the bacteria that inhabit them, and together with the intense blue color that the water acquires in some wells, they create striking landscapes; almost incredible.
