Hills of chocolate

Hundreds and hundreds of chocolates in forests and fields. These chocolate hills are symbols of the province of Bohol in the Philippines. More than one thousand two hundred perfectly symmetrical hills, one next to the other, in an area of 50 km 2. And the middle plains are dominated by forests and rice fields. They are small hills, most of them with a height of 30-50 m and the highest ones with a height of 120 m. They are made of limestone; from their emergence from the sea they have been eroded by the action of karstic processes until they have acquired this peculiar appearance, a remarkable model of topography called conical karst. Caves and fountains abound among the hills. And the hills are covered with grass, grass that dries in the dry season and acquires the color of chocolate.
