The Wolf Jump

In the middle of the night, the wolf leaves the den and goes hunting. Smell that on the other side of this man-made wooden fence you’ll have a way to satisfy your appetite. Jump over the fence and go for the prey.
The photographer José Luis Rodríguez wanted to capture that moment. The moment when the wolf goes hunting and, at the same time, a symbolic image of the conflictive relationship between man and wolf; but without showing blood, without cruelty.
He chose the spot, prepared the frame on his head, and set the shutter speed to capture the Moon’s light properly. In addition, an infrared trap was installed. And when the wolf fell into the trap, click, photo.
Rodríguez has been photographing nature, and especially animals, for 30 years. Now, with this picture of the wolf, a wildlife photographer has received one of the best prizes he can receive: Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009, awarded by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum of London.
