Wildlife in sight
The young orangutan goes easily up the climbing fig tree wrapped in the tree. Put the glass down. he has to climb about 30 meters, but he knows he'll find figs up there. He's been eating figs in this tree before. He knows this vast area well, the Gunung Palung National Park in Borneo, one of the few orangutan refuges. He knows in which trees and when he will find ripe fruits. Biologist and photographer
Tim Laman knew he was coming back and spent three days climbing and descending the tree to put some cameras up. That's how he got the image he had in his
head. It has been the best wildlife photography of this year in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. And, as every year, the contest has also brought us eleven other wonderful photographs. You have our choice on the following pages.
