Another step in understanding the evolution of vertebrates

They have sequenced the genome of the fish Medaka (Oryzias latipes) and thus think that they have taken a step to better understand the changes that the vertebrate genome has undergone in evolution. More than half of the vertebrate species are teleosteos and the fish medaka is one of them, that is, a fish with skeleton. They have seen that their genome has barely changed in 300 million years.

In Japan medaka is a very common fish that is frequently used in the laboratory for research, is small, lives in fresh water and is very common in rice paddies.
