Low fertility before the foreseen with age

Female and male fertility begins to decline sooner than expected, for example, in women have advanced the age at which fertility begins to decline from the age of 30. This has been stated, at least, in the study published by Human Reproduction, a prestigious European journal on reproductive medicine.

The study was carried out by researchers from the Institute of Environmental Sciences of North Carolina of the United States and the University of Padua in Italy, with the aim of knowing the influence of the female and male age on fertility.

According to the researchers, the fact that female fertility begins to decline before age 30 does not mean that people who want to become pregnant with about 30 years have fewer opportunities, but will need two or three months more than age 20 to fulfill their desire. It seems that the possibility of becoming pregnant is reduced within each menstrual cycle.

On the other hand, it is observed that the age of men is more important than was thought, since male fertility begins to decline before 40 years.

According to the published study, women aged 19 to 26 years have a 50% chance of pregnancy in each cycle, if they are between 27 and 34 years of age they are reduced to 40% and for those aged 35 to 39 years the probability of fertilization is less than 30% and is around 20% if the man is under 5 years of age (his fecundity).

However, the researchers have recognized that there is a great difference between couple and couple and that are many factors that influence the fertility of the couple, such as the environment, smoking, sexual diseases...

The study now published has been carried out from the data collected two years ago in the 7 European reproduction centers. 782 women aged 18 to 40 years who were divided into four age groups: 19-26, 27-29, 30-34 and 35-39. In addition to the number of fertilizations per group, they took into account the menstrual cycle of each woman and the good time to become pregnant. In order to obtain the aforementioned results, a specific statistical analysis has been carried out with the data collected, which says to exclude all agents less age, so they consider that they have obtained results more direct than the statistical methods used so far.
