In an American university a material has been invented that changes color when it deforms. Inventors believe that this material is appropriate for food packaging. If the container changes color, the seller or consumer would know it has deformed. Thus, the change in color indicates the risk that the food is deteriorated.

Conventional polymers have made the material mixed with fluorescent pigments. It requires very few pigments and can be used with conventional plastics such as polyethylene or polypropylene.
