Awards for water purification

Cholera causes diarrhea and thus the risk of dehydration. This causes many deaths among older people and children. According to the World Health Organization, last year there were 124,000 cholera cases worldwide and 3,800 deaths.

Now, to reduce cholera cases in countries where cholera is widespread, they have found a special and effective system: purifying water with old prizes. The “Sari” have doubled at least four times and leaked the water. This way the water has been cleaned and cholera cases have dropped by half.

People from India and Bangladesh have always used old traditional female costumes to filter insects that can be part of a homemade sugary drink. And that's why researchers came up with testing. The results have been excellent. In fact, the bacteria that produce cholera, Vibrio cholerae, is small and should easily pass through the pores of reward, but in the water there are also small crustaceans, copepods to which the bacteria are attached. Copepods are thousands of times larger than bacteria, so they do not enter through the pores and many bacteria get caught in the reward. In addition, to get sick of cholera it is necessary to take a minimum of bacteria, so even if not all those that are in the clothes, it is enough to lower in half the cases of cholera.

According to the researchers, the best results are achieved with the old awards. And the old prizes are starting to list, so they have smaller pores and make the water better purified.

This simple and economical technique allows to improve efficiency greatly thanks to the help of satellites. Satellites receive water temperature and cholera cases increase when water is heated. When the water temperature rises in Bengal Bay, plankton and copepods increase. On the other hand, each elbow can contain 10,000 attached bacteria. According to the researchers, the use of information collected by satellites and the hardening of water purification measures can be a major step in preventing cholera.
