INASMET Foundation and Miguel A. Dr. De Maeztu presented the new method for implants and prostheses placed inside the bone. This method improves the relationship between implants and bones.

Titanium has become a common word in the world of dentures and dental implants. Titanium is lightweight, resistant and biocompatible. The body does not reject titanium implants and has very good osseointegration properties. That is, there is no soft tissue between them, it binds very well to the bone (for more information see the article 'Titanium mouths').

Thanks to osseointegration, the implant adheres to the bone and does not suffer any mobility. Overall, the results are excellent. In some cases, however, osteoporosis or low density of the mouth bone may present problems. INASMET has developed the method of preparing implants and prostheses appropriate for these cases. For this purpose, the ionic implantation technique and the use of high-energy particle beams were used.

The prepared implants are fully biocompatible and have better osseointegration properties than conventional ones. In principle they will be used on the teeth, but it is being investigated whether they can be viable for other applications. For example, they think they may be appropriate for the hip and knees.
