On Kangaroo Island, south of Australia, two out of three hides are about to die. In fact, since its introduction in the 1920s, they have been growing to 30,000. The South Australia Nature Conservation Association has announced that this population is too large and that it is the only way to avoid losing native rubber trees.

The Australian government is concerned about this issue and believes that the death of koalas will shock tourists and, therefore, will decrease the number of visitors. And it would not be surprising, because the koala is, undoubtedly, a nice and friendly marsupial. However, targeted homicide is not new in Australia, as they also use this technique to control kangaroo, walabis and similar populations.
