The MAR-ECO study is part of the project called Living Marine Census. In this research, 110 scientists from 16 countries study the middle Atlantic range and have now published their first results.

The middle Atlantic mountain range is the highest in the world and ranges from Iceland to Azores. In this area, the researchers have found new species of fish and squid that so far did not know. In particular, a total of 80,000 species have been collected, of which 45-50 are considered unknown.

In addition, acoustic instruments have been used to detect the activity of live seafarers, and images of the ocean floor have been taken through cameras. Thanks to this they have been able to verify that at 2,000 m of depth there are surprising traces, in the form of burrow or nest, but still do not know what is created.

Research, the sea still preserves many mysteries.
