20,000 species of microorganisms in marine waters

A project has been launched to censor all marine species. One of the objectives is to know the number of species present in the sea and the data of microorganisms have already been published. A liter of marine water has found about 20,000 species of microorganisms. This is a greater diversity than expected, as biologists expected to find about 2,000 species. It has not been a monolocal account: the water captured at various depths in eight places has been analyzed. This water has been transferred to the laboratory and microorganisms have begun to be identified. The species have been separated by genetic testing. Some photographs of microorganisms can be seen on the internet.
