2011/07/05 Lakar Iraizoz, Oihane - Elhuyar Zientzia

Edzard Ernst and Simon Singh have written Sendabide or iruzurbide. He published in Basque the book Alternative medicine in the test (Trick or treatment, alternative medicine on trial), presented in Donostia by Edzard Ernst himself. Today, at 7 pm, will take place in the Miramar Palace (Donostia) a conference under the same title, with free entry. The talk will be in English and simultaneous translation will be offered to the Basque language. Treatment or means of fraud. Alternative medicine to test

As a presentation of the conference, yesterday offered a brief interview:

The book focuses on the study of the best known treatments of Alternative Medicine, such as acupuncture, homeopathy, aromatherapy, reflexology, chiropractic or medicine of medicinal plants, and the explanation of the benefits and possible risks tested after their assessment by means of scientific tests. According to the authors, “from these studies we have drawn the conclusion that alternative treatments do not have a real effect on patients and, in cases in which they occur, they only have a placebo effect.”
