Chess in Europe, older than expected

Although there are many theories about the origin of chess, VI. In the nineteenth century it is believed that it was born in the territories of India. The precursor of chess was called chaturanga and represented the four groups of the traditional Indian army: war cars, infantry, cavalry and elephants. It spread from India to all of Asia and later to Europe.


However, the experts were not very clear when chess was played in Europe. They knew XII. In the 20th century, the people of Europe played and were well known in both Spain and France. The VII is known. In 20th century Europe they already knew this game. In fact, during excavations in the ancient Albanian city of Butrint, archaeologists have found a piece of ivory, 500 years older than they had discovered in Europe.
