Are you ready for coffee?

2001/05/17 Elhuyar Zientzia

Coffee is the main agricultural product in the world and Hawaii is one of the most appreciated. For the production of a high quality coffee it is essential to know the best time for the collection of grains.

A team of researchers at Clark University in the United States will use the Pathfinder-Plus aircraft to fly over the coffee series during the season. This plane, developed by NASA, uses solar energy, does not need guidance and gets spectral images of the terrestrial surface it crosses, that is, of colors. This information allows farmers to know the best time for coffee collection. In this way, the consumer will taste the best tasting coffee.

These flights will demonstrate the value of the Pathfinder-Plus aircraft, either because it can obtain scientifically used images or because it exceeds the duration of the flight of a normal piloted aircraft.
